Conor McGregor Signals Interest in Floyd Mayweather Jr. Boxing Rematch
The possibility of another showdown between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. has returned to the spotlight. Nearly a decade after their record-breaking boxing match, McGregor has openly expressed interest in facing the undefeated boxing legend once again.
While no official agreement has been announced, the latest comments have sparked fresh discussion about whether one of combat sports’ biggest events could happen again.
McGregor Keeps the Door Open
The first meeting between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. took place in 2017 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The highly promoted pay-per-view event saw the UFC star step into a professional boxing ring against one of the sport’s greatest champions.
Mayweather relied on his experience, sharp timing, and conditioning to stop McGregor with a 10th-round TKO.

Now, as McGregor prepares to return to the UFC after a five-year break with a scheduled fight against Max Holloway, he confirmed that a second boxing match remains a real possibility.
Speaking with TMZ Sports, McGregor said, “Yeah, for sure [I’m interested in a rematch]. I’m like this with Floyd. I’m like this with little Floyd.” He also added, “There’s conversations ongoing always with the boy. That’s the truth. So, I’m open for it.”
What Could Happen Next?
Before any boxing plans move ahead, attention remains on McGregor’s UFC comeback. The 37-year-old will first need to show how he performs after such a lengthy absence from competition.
His current UFC contract has only two fights remaining. McGregor has already stated that he plans to stay “hella active” over the next few years. His final contracted UFC appearance is currently expected in April 2027, which could create the perfect opportunity for another meeting with Mayweather.
A rematch between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. remains speculative, but McGregor’s latest remarks have added fresh momentum to the discussion. If both sides decide to move forward, the fight could also become a major attraction for Zuffa Boxing, the boxing promotion co-founded by UFC President Dana White in 2025.
For now, the focus stays on McGregor’s UFC return, while fans continue to watch for any official developments regarding another chapter in one of combat sports’ biggest rivalries.
